6 days to go and Pretty Standard VET Terms

There are no real surprises in these definitions But I have made some comments ...
VET course means:
(a) the units of competency of a training package that is endorsed by the Ministerial Council; or
(b) the modules of a VET accredited course; or
(c) the modules of a course accredited by a VET Regulator of a non‑referring State.

I like the separation out of the terms ‘Units of Competency’ (UoC) and ‘modules’.  Hopefully we will not hear people talking about ‘modules’ when referring to UoC in Training Packages any more.

VET information means information that is held by the National VET Regulator and relates to the performance of the Regulator’s functions.

VET qualification means a testamur, relating to a VET course, given to a person confirming that the person has achieved learning outcomes and competencies that satisfy the requirements of a qualification.

Standards for VET Accredited Courses has the meaning given by section 188.
And under Section 188 it says ...
(1) The Minister may, by legislative instrument, make standards for VET accredited courses, as agreed by the Ministerial Council.
Note:       Section 42 (disallowance) and Part 6 (sunsetting) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 do not apply to a legislative instrument that makes the standards (see sections 44 and 54 of that Act).
(See there is ‘that’ Note again!)
(2) The agreed standards are to be known as the Standards for VET Accredited Courses.

Standards for VET Regulators has the meaning given by section 189.
And under Section 189 it says ...
 (1) The Minister may, by legislative instrument, make standards for VET Regulators, as agreed by the Ministerial Council.
Note:       Section 42 (disallowance) and Part 6 (sunsetting) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 do not apply to a legislative instrument that makes the standards (see sections 44 and 54 of that Act).
(2) The agreed standards are to be known as the Standards for VET Regulators.

I love the way we have the Standards for NVR RTOs but apparently the Standards for the VET Regulators are not released yet?

Australian Qualifications Framework has the same meaning as in the Higher Education Support Act 2003.
From that ACT it states in the Dictionary ,,
Australian Qualifications Framework means the framework for recognition and endorsement of qualifications established by the Council
(a) comprised of the Ministers responsible for education, employment, training and youth affairs for the Commonwealth and each State; and
(b) known as the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs;
to give effect to agreed standards in relation to the provision of education in Australia.

It is interesting that they chose to just reference this definition and not actually detail it again especially because it seems like the Higher Education Support Act 2003 actually references MCEETYA which has actually been replaced by MCEECDYA (realignment of the roles and responsibilities of two previously existing councils—the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) and the Ministerial Council for Vocational and Technical Education (MCVTE))

The Law, you got to love it. Are we having fun yet?
